The Maurice Sendak Foundation has entered into a multi-year agreement with AppleTV+, Apple’s streaming service, to create new animated specials and series based on the stories and pictures of Maurice Sendak.

“We are delighted to be collaborating with Apple to bring the work of Maurice Sendak to screens around the world,” says Lynn Caponera, President of The Maurice Sendak Foundation. “Though most know him through his iconic books, Sendak’s legacy also resides in theater, film, and TV, and this partnership with Apple will further the awareness of his unique genius.”

Arthur Yorinks, writer-director and longtime Sendak colleague, will oversee all Apple/Sendak projects through his Night Kitchen Studios.

The Maurice Sendak Fellowship, represented by Lynn Caponera and Dona Ann McAdams, receives Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art "Angel" HonorThe “Angel” honor is for fostering young illustrators and writers and providing them with incredible creative opportunities.  Maurice Sendak started the annual fellowship program in 2010 to “create work . . . that excites and incites.”  Previous fellows include Elisha Cooper, Yuyi Morales, Antoinette Portis, Sergio Ruzzier, Steven Savage, and other talents.

A unique evening hosted by The Maurice Sendak Foundation, featured Lynn Caponera, President of the Foundation. This event included a brief program on the accomplishments of the Foundation and was followed by a special "sneak preview" announcement and performance; the commissioning of Arthur Yorinks for a new stage adaptation of Where The Wild Things Are. This new stage play will have its world premiere at The New Victory Theater in New York City. The finale of the program introduced the newly published Yorinks/Sendak picture book, Presto and Zesto in Limboland, by way of a theatrical reading. A reception  followed.
