What programs does the Foundation offer artists? How can I apply?

The Sendak Fellowship is a four-week residency program administered and coordinated directly by the Foundation. There is no application for this residency. Recipients are chosen each year by a nomination committee that anonymously nominates candidates. A jury committee then reviews the candidates’ work and makes their top selections. The Foundation reaches out to the selected artists to extend the invitation to attend.

The Sendak Fellowship provides time, space, and resources for promising illustrators whose primary focus revolves around picture books or other sequential visual storytelling in book format.  Recipients receive both living and studio space, as well as a grant that is to be used as they see fit.
